The LOSD Green Teams are an integral part of the community and play a big role in helping OLWC learn and innovate. We’ve been partnering with high school Green Teams to coordinate regular campus stewardship events like ivy pulls and native tree plantings.

Here is what Lakeridge & LOHS have been up to on their campus this past year:
The LOHS Green Team has been working hard to make improvements in their environment and community over the past year, both on and off our campus. Their main focuses this school year,

  • Activism
  • Gardens and Grounds (previously Native Plants)
  • Renewable Energy
  • Elementary and Middle School Outreach
  • Curriculum

They’ve been holding regular Ivy Pull events, removing invasive species from their campus, with plans to plant native species in their place in order to prevent soil erosion. Their goal for the year is to remove all the ivy from the large stretch of land by their baseball field. They’re currently also working on getting recertified as an Oregon Green School.

Lakeridge High School is also hard at work on their campus reviewing curriculum to ensure that all students are getting proper information about climate change. In September they participated in the Youth Climate Town Hall featuring senator Rob Wyden.
