Education Programs at the Oswego Lake Watershed Council
At the OLWC, we are dedicated to creating engaging, place-based learning experiences that connect students with the natural world of the Lake Oswego watershed. Our education programs aim to deepen students’ understanding of local environmental issues, promote hands-on learning, and inspire future environmental stewards.
Collaborating with Schools for Environmental Learning
We partner with schools throughout the Lake Oswego School District (LOSD) to enhance students’ environmental education through interactive activities and field trips. Whether it’s supporting classroom activities focused on healthy soils, oak survey work, or water quality analysis, we work alongside teachers to integrate real-world ecological lessons into the curriculum.

High School Collaborations:
Empowering the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders
Our work with high school students is centered on collaboration with school clubs, including the Green Team, National Honor Society, and Interact Club. These students are leading important sustainability initiatives and improving natural areas on their campuses, and OLWC is here to support and amplify their efforts.
The Green Team’s mission is to promote sustainability and environmental consciousness through educational programs, hands-on events, and community activism. Their work is making a lasting impact on the campus environment, and OLWC is proud to be a partner in these initiatives.

Elementary School Field Trips: Hands-On Learning for the Next Generation
We also work with younger students, offering enriching field trip programs that provide valuable STEM experiences and connect classroom learning to the natural world.
5th Grade Healthy Waters Field Trips
These outings support science curriculum by exploring key concepts such as water quality, water pollution, and the sources of community drinking water. Volunteers play a key role in ensuring these trips are a success and help foster a deeper understanding of water science in the next generation.

2nd Grade Water at Work Field Trips
These trips support science curriculum by providing hands-on experiences to reinforce key concepts such as the properties of water and its role in shaping landscapes.

Get Involved: Volunteer for Field Trips
We rely on volunteers to help make these field trips meaningful and educational for students. If you’re passionate about clean water and environmental education, consider joining us as a field trip volunteer. Volunteers will help guide students in their field explorations, making a real difference in their learning experience.
